Fellow ICSA sailors.
The Bowling Green State UNiversity sailing team is currently
being faced with a serious dilemma. Our school is in the process of
drawing up rules that would require all sports clubs to take a
chaperone on all away events. This chaperone must be at least 25
years old and possibly a university faculty or staff member. I am
foreseeing difficulties with housing and transportation and getting
an adult to give up their entire weekend to travel among other
things. I would really appreciate some feed back on this issue so I
could pass it on to the head of club sports and other necessary
officials.
Thank you for your time

1) Does your club require a chaperone to travel with the team? If so
must it be a University staff or employee?
2) Does your team take a coach on the road?
3) If you answered yes to either of the the above, is the team
responsible for the cost of housing said chaperone?
4) Do you feel it beneficial to have a chaperone on the trip (please
specify coach or chaperone)?
5) Do you experience or foresee any problems with having a chaperone
on away trips?
6) Do you feel that is necessary for college students to be
supervised at away competitions?
7) Any other comments?
Thank you again for your response. Our club is new and I am doing
everything in my power to keep it together.
