The 2006 Mendelblatt Team Race
Hosted by the University of South Florida Bulls
Conditions:
Saturday we had South winds ranging from 10kts and building all day to
18kts with even stronger gusts. The winds kicked up a steep chop
making the rotation difficult. Temperatues stayed in the mid-60s with
clouds cover increasing throughout the day. We finished 19 races of
the 42 planned and headed in for the day when a major front hit from
the northwest.
Sunday we had Northwest winds at a steady 18 to 19kts and gusting to
25kts. We had very light chop with the offshore breeze and therefore
very few breakdowns when compared with Saturday. Temperatures were in
the low 50s. The 30 races for the double round-robin were completed
along with a final four double round-robin (12 races).
I'd like to thank my race committee team (USF Sailors) for doing
an outstanding job this weekend. In addition thanks for assistance
from Jim Terkelson from Eckerd College and to Brendan Shaddock(sp?)
Tufts '05 we had a great time running the event, see you next year.
