Come be a part of the first women's skiff regatta! Many of you already know that Julian Bethwaite has been developing a women's skiff with the 2012 Games in mind. This summer you're invited to take the first step towards making a women's skiff fleet a reality. The first 29erXX event, the World Cup, will be held in Weymouth, England July 30-Aug 1 (following the 29er Worlds).
About the 29erXX The 29erXX is to a 29er what a Laser is to a Laser Radial. The "X rig" is an all carbon, double spreader, taller version of the 29er mast. It features twin trapezes and a masthead kite as well as a larger main and jib. Thanks to the power of trapezing, the ideal weight for the X rig is actually smaller than the 29er, making this the ideal women's skiff. Can I check it out online? Jen Morgan and Genny Tulloch have put together a website complete with schedule, photos and some video that will give you a glimpse at the 29erXX. Visit www.skiffsailing.org/29erX. Just how fast is it? You'll get a good feeling for how fast it is in the video on Jen and Genny's site (see above link). The video was taken on a 4-8 knot day. When can I get one? Production of the X rig is just about complete, however Jen Morgan Glass and Genny Tulloch currently have a demo version of the rig in San Francisco. If you are interested in traveling to England for the World Cup and would like to try the rig out before hand, respond to this email to contact Jen. I'm hooked...how do I sign up for the World Cup? Contact 29er Class President Gerardo Seeliger ( [EMAIL PROTECTED]) and let him know you are interested. See you on the water, Jen Morgan *please forward on to interested sailors -- Jennifer Morgan Glass ________________________________________________ icsa mailing list [email protected] http://www.collegesailing.org/mailman/?listname=icsa
