2006-2007 ICSA/Vanguard Men’s and Woman’s Singlehanded National 
Championship

 Notice of Race
  
 1. Rules
 The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005- 2008, 
the ICSA Procedural Rules Fall 2005-2008, the General Conditions for the ICSA 
National Intercollegiate Sailing Championships, the Conditions of the National 
Intercollegiate Men’s Singlehanded Championship, and the Conditions of the 
National Intercollegiate Women’s Singlehanded Championship.

 2. Waters
 The regatta will be sailed out of the Roger Williams University Campus 
Waterfront. The sailing area will be located off the shore of campus in Mount 
Hope 
Bay.  Conditions are “Open Water,” and tidal currents are strong.     

 3. Boats
 The event will be sailed in Vanguard-provided Lasers. There will be no 
rotation. The boats shall be sailed as supplied, except that competitor’s may 
provide and use temporary telltales and/or wind indicators, and personal tiller 
and 
extension.  Tiller and extension must be in compliance with Laser Class 
rules.   
 The Glen S. Foster Trophy will be sailed in Full-Rigged Lasers, and the 
Janet Lutz Trophy will be sailed in Radial-Rigged Lasers.   

 4. Eligibility
 All entrants must meet ICSA eligibility requirements and have qualified in 
their district  elimination event.

 5. Fees
 Entry fee will be $25 per sailor. A refundable damage deposit of $200 will 
also be required from each competitor. A Vanguard representative will evaluate 
damage.

 6. Schedule
 Friday, November 3rd
9:00 a.m. – Registration and Breakfast
9:00-11:00 a.m. – Practice
11:15a.m. – Competitors’ Meeting
12:00 noon – First Race Warning
Buffet dinner and entertainment in regatta tent following conclusion of 
racing.

Saturday, November 4th
9:00 a.m. – Report Time and Breakfast
10:00 a.m. – Race Warning
Buffet dinner and entertainment in regatta tent following conclusion of 
racing.

Sunday, November 5th
9:00 a.m. – Report Time and Breakfast
10:00 a.m. – Race Warning
3:00 p.m. – No race shall start after this time.
Awards ceremony to follow immediately upon conclusion of racing.
  
  
 7. Registration
Forms will be available via email. To obtain a registration form, please 
contact Dave Siegal ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Completed forms must be received by 
October 
30, 2006.
    
 8. Housing
 25 Rooms are reserved at Bristol Harbor Inn, 259 Thames Street, Bristol, RI 
02809.  (401) 254-1444.  Rooms are discounted under a Roger Williams 
University reservation.  Prices range between $89.00 and $99.00.  Rooms vary in 
bed 
arrangement and some have water views.  Bristol Harbor Inn is 5 minutes from 
campus, and rooms are first-come, first-served under our reservation.  
Conferences 
are encouraged to make reservations prior to their qualifiers.     

 9. Sailing Instructions
 Sailing instructions will be available upon registration and at the event 
website.

 10. Transportation
 T.F. Green Airport (PVD) in Warwick, RI, services many major airline 
carriers. The airport is located approximately 45 minutes from campus. A rental 
car 
is recommended and can be arranged for airport pick up.  Logan International 
Airport (BOS) in Boston, MA, is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes from campus 
and is an additional alternative.  Logan International Airport services more 
airlines.  

 11. Meals
 Each morning, a catered breakfast buffet will be available in the regatta 
tent. Additionally, Friday and Saturday evening, a catered dinner buffet will 
be 
served after racing.  Each participant will be provided a wristband for meals 
in the tent.  Non-competitors are encouraged to purchase a ticket for meals 
during the event.  Sales will be available at meal time.  

 12. Prizes
 For the Men’s Championship, the winner’s name and college shall be engraved 
on the Glen S. Foster Trophy, and the second place person’s name and college 
shall be engraved on the George H. Griswold Trophy. For the Women’s 
Championship, the winner’s name and college shall be engraved on the Janet Lutz 
Trophy. 
Keeper trophies, provided by the ICSA, shall be awarded to the top three 
finishers.

 13. US Sailing O’Day Singlehanded Championship.
 Competitors interested in participating in the 2007 US O’Day Singlehanded 
Championship must be a member of US Sailing for the 2006- 07 Intercollegiate 
Sailing Association Singlehanded Championships. There is a reduced membership 
fee 
for full-time students (http://www.ussailing.org/).
