REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
With three early withdrawals and Rochester as a No Show, the Fordham &
Columbia Sailing Teams welcomed the Cornell Women's Sailing Team to a
spectacularly
beautiful, fall day in New York City. Winds were steady from the WSW all day
starting at 6-8 knots and increasing to 18-19 knots with gusts to 22 later in
the day. With only three teams, the RC decided to sail and score both A & B
Divisions together. Six races were held in Columbia's FJs in the morning and
after lunch, six more were held in Fordham's 420s. Racing was conducted in Long
Island Sound off Morris Yacht & Beach Club on City Island. Keeping with the
"Big
Apple" theme, sailors were treated to a breakfast of juice and H&H Bagels
from its Second Avenue store on the East Side of Manhattan; a lunch of
Manhattan
Clam Chowder and Italian bread and cheese from the Shrimp Box on City Island,
and for dessert, a sinfully sumptuous Cheesecake from S&S Bakery in the Bronx.
