These are the results for: Sherman Hoyt Trophy @ Brown October 21-22
**Updated Hoyt Results
It was brought to my attention that there was a scoring error found in race 2B.
Old Dominion's B division was not given redress in the original scores from
race 2B. They were awarded their original finish of 7th place by the jury
after a redress hearing (not the 14th place given in the original scores).
This had some effects on the final scoring, moving Brown into 4th place overall
(winning a tie breaker) and dropping Hobart/WmSmith to 5th, and moved Old
Dominion to 15th place overall and dropping NY Martime to 16th. Some other
minor point changes as well. Our apologies for the error. Thanks to ODU for
bringing this to our attention.

REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: Despite a nasty forecast, day one turned out to be a beautiful day
with W/NW winds at 10-20 knots and very shifty and puffy conditions. One Gold
Cup course and the rest were Windward/Leewards with 4 or 5 legs and a weather
offset mark and leeward gates. A few protests resulting in 2 DSQs and one
redress granted.
Sunday: A decent northerly breeze held in there for the first set of the day
(races 7B and 8B) and quickly died out during race 9A. Postponement til 1:30pm
when a nice southerly filled in at 6-9 knots for races 10A, 9B and 10B, and
11A. An attempt was made for 12A but the race had to be abandoned due to the
weakening southerly and lots of flooding current. B division came back out at
3:50pm to get in race 11 in a short lived westerly at 5 knots. Race 11B was
started at 4:15 and completed the Hoyt Trophy. Courses today were some W/L's
and mostly Gold Cups and a Triangle/Windward for the last race. Tight racing
again with the BC Eagles coming out with a one point victory over St. Mary's.
Brown and Harvard grabbed the two available ACC berths for NEISA with Harvard
winning a tie breaker over Dartmouth. Great racing and an impressive fleet on
hand to get ready for the Atlantic Coast Championships to be held at Brown in
November. No protests and no breakdowns on Sunday.
Thanks to judges Vanessa Lipschitz 04 and Edward Young 05 and Brown sailors
Charles Enright 08, Ben Siegal 08, Nick Sala 07, and Doug Allen '07 for
their help.
