FINAL RESULTS
REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
SAISA Women's Championships were hosted by USF April 21, 2007. Perfect
spring conditions greeted the five teams: temps near 80, steady northeast
winds 8 to 12 knots, with a few higher gusts, and some interesting chop.
New sails arrived just in time for the event, enhancing USF's FJ fleet.
Races were modified Olympics and trapezoids, averaging 13 minutes. RC
duties were handled by USF Women's team alumni Kristen Herman, Jee Lee,
and Ashley Reynolds, with additional coach boat support by Jim Terkelsen
of Eckerd and mark set by Jeff Dusek of FAU.
Congratulations to FAU for competing in their first ever Women's regatta,
and to Florida for their continued support of Women's sailing. The first
berth to Nationals went to powerhouse College of Charleston, who won 19 of
20 races. The other berth was an all-day see-saw battle between Eckerd and
host University of South Florida, with USF ultimately taking 2nd.
