Saturday:
A local storm system kept the breeze shifty all day at TISC. Morning
wind was from the South-Southeast from 3 to 5 knts. After two a
races the wind shifted around to the West at 5-10 knts though still
quite shifty and highly variable. At around 3pm the wind shifted
back to the South at 3-10 knts for the remainder of the day. 8 A
division and 6 B division races were sailed in WL and WL2x. UCSD B
division retired due to injury. One protest was heard resulting in a
DSQ.
Sunday:
Wind was strong and consistent from the West for the entire day
starting at 10-12 and building to 15 knts with a few larger gusts.
It was great sailing in windy flat water at TISC! 6 A and 8 B
division races were sailed in WL2x to finish the double round robin
at 3:45pm. No protests were filed. *Cal was penalized 20 pts per
division for not wearing pinnies (Procedural Rule 13e)
Thanks to Cal Alums Michelle Lu, Kristin Maberry, Ryan Schulties,
Jesse Wedler and John Horsch for RC support and Bryan McDonald for
judging support. Thanks also to help from USC alum Harrison Turner
for hearing the protest. Thanks to Encinal YC and Stanford for
providing crash boats for the event. Congratulations to Stanford and
Irvine--good luck at nationals!
