NEISA Director of Judging and Umpire Coordination NEISA is very appreciative of the volunteers who help umpire and judge at the many conference events. In recognition of the time that people are willing to commit to help our sailors get fair and well run competition, our goal is to make the process of volunteering to help umpire and judge at NEISA events as streamlined and well coordinated as possible. We also want to ensure consistency at NEISA events through effective dissemination of procedural rule information, changes at the national and international level, as well as giving judges opportunities to practice their craft throughout the season leading up to championship events. We are looking for a non-affiliated individual to work with the NEISA executive committee to accomplish the following goals: I) Create and maintain a list of judges and umpires who wish to volunteer at NEISA events. II) Ensure and maintain consistency of high level of judging/umpiring at NEISA events, from week to week and year to year. III) Help prioritize NEISA regattas and match with judges/umpires' experience levels and schedules. Ensure coverage at high priority events, and encourage participation in conference minors. IV) Help provide experience and training for judges/umpires who want to gain better knowledge of the rules and the sport. V) Coordinate travel plans, lodging, and reimbursement for judges/umpires attending NEISA events. There is a stipend for this position to compensate for time and training. Attendance at all NEISA events is NOT a prerequisite, but some weekend work may be required.
