Saturday: The sailors were greeted to clearing skies and a nice 7 knot
southerly but that quicly deteriorated as the wind shifted more than 90 degrees
as the fog rolled in and the first three races were cancelled. After a little
over an hour, a light northwesterly filled that gradually built and veered to
the right by the end of the day, finishing with a nice 8-10 knot Northeasterly
breeze. In all 35 races were completed and we look forward to tomorrow's
breezy forecast. Many thanks go out to the Towne Point Yacht Club for cooking
up a great lunch and providing lots of water and snacks.

Sunday: The day started with cloudy skies and a moderate southerly breeze that
built throughout the day. Most of the remainining races of the second round
robin were sailed in excess of 15 knots. The median breeze direction remained
the same all day resulting in only two marks needing to be reset (due to
sailors dragging them). The race committee did a great job in getting the
races in quickly and the second round robin was completed at noon, allowing
some sailors to hit the road early. After a short break the final four teams
went back out where they were quickly met with much stronger breeze. The
entire final four was sailed in average breeze close to 20 knots with at least
one puff that rolled through at the start of the Georgetown/Boston College Race
that was clocked at over 30 knots. All in all the racing went smooth with some
fantastic racing on the part of the competitors that was fun to watch. Many
thanks to the ODU sailors and to Chief Umpire Jeff Borland and his crew who
helped make this a fantastic event. Congrats to the St. Mary's Seahawks on the
victory coming at the finish line of a great all or nothing race with Boston
College.
