Championship Regatta
Boat: Laser
Saturday, wind was SE at 3-8 knots. Races were delayed until noon due to lack of
wind. Despite the forecast Biscayne bay showed off as the wind filled with
3-4kts of breeze and racing commenced at 12:15pm. The direction was steady from
the SE most of the day building to a high of 8knts. Eleven races were completed.
A breakdown was awarded to Bryan White in race 5 due to a failed tiller
universal.
Special thank you goes to PRO Dr. Ken Voss and his support team of Fred Moffat,
Penny Arhonson, and Beth and Jose Hernandez. We also thank the Miami US Sailing
Center for allowing us to host from their facilities, and to Ransom High School
for use of their float and a mark boat.
A Sportsmanship award goes to Alex Weiksnart of UMiami for “taking one for the
teams” and sailing races 6-11 with a very short 420 tiller extension to avoid
other teams having to take a bye after boat#3 tiller failed.
