A correction has been made to the results for the Graham Hall Team Race.
The finish was recorded incorrectly in race B66 between Old Dominion and
Hobart & William Smith. HWS was originally credited with the win, but Old
Dominion actually won the race. HWS remains in ninth place by virtue of
winning the head to head tie breaker with Vermont and Old Dominion claims
sole possession of 11th place - moving NY Maritime to 12th. The results
grid has been updated on the website and on the attached pdf. Our apologies
go out to Old Dominion for our mistake.

2010 Graham Hall Team Race

US Naval Academy

March 6-7, 2010

2010 marks the first year the US Naval Academy is hosting the Graham Hall
Team Race with all 16 teams in one location and the event proved to be a
huge success. On Saturday, The wind was out of the Northwest at 8-12 knots
under sunny skies and high temperatures near 50 degrees and two courses were
set in the Severn River just outside Santee Basin. Through the course of
the day 120 races and 1 re-sail race were completed, finishing off the

complete 16 team round robin. This impressive feat was carried out by PRO

Gavin O'Hare (USNA '92), head coach Ian Burman and their dedicated team of
midshipmen who spent the entire day on the water getting races started. The
coaches from the teams served as umpires for the second year of this event
and the system worked well again, with only two protests heard at the end of
the day, both resulting in DSQs. In addition to having the coaches on the
water, we had a few additional umpires - Rick Sullivan, Andrew Cole, Herb
Larrabee, and Dave Clinnin - who added a second umpire boat to some races,
filled in for teams without coaches and heard protests at the end of the
day. On the course, Georgetown proved to be the dominant team of the day,
compiling a 15-0 record, with Navy, St. Mary's and Yale all tied for second
at 12-3. At the end of the day on Saturday, the competitors were treated to
a fantastic cookout, hosted by Joan and Dick Morin and the volunteers of
Navy Sailing.

Sunday saw another great day, with sunny skies, highs in the mid 50s and
another northwesterly breeze, slightly lighter than the day before. Racing
began right on time at 0930 with gold and silver round robins run
simultaneously on adjacent courses. After the round robins, two protests
were heard, resulting in one DSQ. After the round robin, Georgetown
remained in first, with Yale and Navy tied for second and St. Mary's
claiming the last spot in the final four by virtue of winning the head to

head tie breaker with Boston College. The final four saw more tight and

clean racing, with Georgetown having already wrapped up the victory and the
other three positions up for grabs. St. Mary's beat both Navy and Yale to
move up to second, while Navy secured third place by beating Yale.

Georgetown maintained its dominance throughout the event, using 5 different
skippers and 5 different crews to compile an impressive 24-1 overall record.

Congratulations to the Hoyas

The scoring grid was maintained live online all day by Midshipman Robert
Nordlund, who devised a tremendous spreadsheet for generating rotations and
keeping score, making the day run seamlessly. The results grid , which was
updated throughout the weekend, can be found here -
