St. Mary's Team Race Intersectional March 13-14, 2010
Ten teams, a dozen top-notch umpires, 18 420's / 18 FJ's, ten motorboats, a
beautiful new sailing center and a heck of a lot of waiting around.
It sure seemed like we were all dressed up with nowhere to go. . . One of
the most trying weekends on the St. Mary's River. Seemingly every time the
race committee attempted to start a flight in good wind, it disappeared by
the time the second race of the set rounded the leeward mark. Breeze
attempted to fill from every direction at one point over the weekend.
Finally at about 12:30pm on Sunday a Northerly filled at about 5-6 knots and
a round-robin could be completed. Great sportsmanship and camaraderie shown
by many teams with great patience and appreciation for the trying
conditions. Eagles win!
