The College of Charleston is seeking applicants for the Director of Sailing position.
Job Responsibilities: Serve as head administrator for and oversee the daily operations and financial resources of all College of Charleston sailing programs, including the varsity sailing team, physical education classes, and community sailing programs. - Manage all maintenance and use of College of Charleston sailing program facilities and boats (18 420s, 6 FJs, 10 J-22s, 8 Lasers, 5 motor boats). - Serve as primary fundraiser (annual drive, capital campaigns, newsletter publication, boat donations, etc.) for sailing program to support ongoing operating and capital requirements of the program. - Oversee all aspects of the varsity women's and coed sailing teams (recruiting, budgeting, travel logistics, scheduling, NCAA compliance, academics, strength & conditioning), including supervision of coaching staff and serving as the primary liaison with the athletic department. - Administer adult non-credit sailing classes and community membership programs (advertising, scheduling, communication, enrollment, budgeting, etc.) - Schedule and staff basic and intermediate sailing classes offered through the Physical Education Department throughout the fall, spring, maymester and summer sessions (currently 11 scheduled classes). - Assist in hosting of national and regional championships for high school programs, ICSA, US Sailing, and SAYRA. Job Requirements: - Bachelor's degree required. At least five years of relevant experience, preferably involving significant fundraising experience. Must have strong organizational and written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy with Word, Excel, and Adobe InDesign and Dreamweaver is required. - Must be highly skilled in developing long-term, productive relationships with potential donors, alumni, staff, athletic department and other college personnel, and the Charleston sailing community.
