Great breeze and a long day of sailing sums up the day for Saturday at the Navy
Fall Intersectional. Sailors arrived to a Northwesterly 10-15 knot breeze that
built as the day progressed to 15-25 knots before backing to around 7 knots for
the last set. Three full rotations were sailed in the morning in all divisions
before a 45 minute lunch break, after which 8 additional races were sailed in
A, B, and C for a total of 14 with zero general recalls. A breakdown prevented
race 14 to be sailed in D division. All races were sailed on a trapozoid
course in the Severn River just off of the Robert Crown Center making for great
spectating. There were several breakdowns and some wild wipe outs. Four
protests will be heard tomorrow morning at 9am before sailing. Thanks to
judges Doc Sullivan and Austin Kana for keeping it clean on the water and to
the Midshipmen for running a ton of even, fair races. Preliminary results can
be found at http://regatta.mit.edu/f10/navy-fall/. !
