Subject: McMillan Cup at Navy (Final Results)
It was another fine day for racing Navy 44s on the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis.
PRO Keith Jacobs started the first race of the day on time at 1030 in a
southwesterly breeze of 7 knots. Similar to early yesterday, there was a
strong upwind ebb which made life interesting around the start line and for
calling laylines. Today however, the breeze never built beyond 8 knots making
the job of grinding jib sheets and dousing the chutes much kinder on the crews.
Navy picked up where they left off yesterday sailing smart and conservatively
scoring three more bullets and a third to distance themselves from the fleet in
dominating fashion. Coast Guard and Maine Maritime skirmished again
throughout the day with Coast Guard maintaining second place despite taking an
I flag penalty in race 6. Congratulations to the Navy team on a fine
performance!
