Saturday:

Teams arrived to glassy conditions and warm temps which lasted for most of the
day, there were a few teasers but racing did not start until 4:30. 21 races
were sailed between 4:30 and dark. The regatta then wandered over to Sequoia
YC for a great dinner, thanks Sequoia! A big thank you to all the Stanford
Undergrads who helped run racing and to Coach Hayes for his patience with PRO
work. A huge thanks to our totally awesome umpire crew lead by Bryan McDonald,
dude 1 himself! It was a great day at the beach, certainly the teams from the
midwest enjoyed that big yellow thing in the sky, maybe too much. We are
hoping for wind for sunday but as the forecasts are calling for even warmer
temps it might be tough.

Sunday:

Started almost identical to Saturday, glassy conditions and even warmer temps.
The Regatta chair and conference commish decided to use appendix D 4.3 for the
scoring of the event as we knew that it was unlikely that a round would be
completed. This rule calls for an unfinished round to be scored by winning
percentage rather then the total win/loss record. A easterly built to 3-5 kts.
and the RC took advantage of slack tide to get a race in the small basin. A
second race was started but slack tide turned into a big ebb so downwind was
impossible and the race was abandoned. At 2pm a nice NNE filled in at 3-8kts
and racing went on as quickly as we could till the 3pm deadline. The RC did a
great job getting to race # 34 out of 45 for the round. We did not complete a
round this weekend so we did use the winning percentage scoring as prescribed
in D4.3. Although not everyone faced each other it was a nice way to score it
so we would get in as many races as we could while having them count for
something. Congrats to USC and Michigan Tied for the win!

USC 6-1
