Saturday:
North to Northwest breezes from 4-17 knots allowed 47 races to be completed.
PRO Christopher W. Gaffney showed tremendous patience working with Mike
Kuschner and the SMC Seahawks to keep the course square in significant shifts
throughout the day. An outstanding group of umpires kept the racing fair for
the racers:

Rob Overton, Chief umpire
Guy Barbato, reserve
Stovy Brown
Andrew Campbell
Gary Grimes
Sandy Grosvenor
Justin Law
John Pearce
Dawn Riley
Richard Sullivan

Sunday:
The day began with race 20 in the second round and by 11:30 the second round
was complete in tricky Northwesterly breezes from 3-12 knots. The RC was
aggressive about moving marks and the finish line to try and keep up with the
shifts; but in a couple of instances 1/2 runaways stayed unchanged on the last
beat without much hope. All four teams in the championship final 4 (Hobart,
Georgetown, St. Mary's and Navy) entered with a chance to win the event. The
Midshipmen battled hard, but in the end, the Seahawks made a run and emerged on
top with Hobart 2nd and Georgetown 3rd. The top three teams advance to the
ICSA / APS Team Race National Championships to be hosted by the University of
Texas June 3-5.
