Saturday: Sailors and umpires arrived at Lake Mendota in Madison, WI to a
cold and dreary day with rain on and off until mid afternoon and
temperatures in the 40s. Breeze was about 15 mph out of the east making for
smooth rotations out of Hoofers. Courses were collegiate N's and two fleets
of 420s were in rotation. The six teams did one full round robin that ended
just before 1:00 PM and took a half hour break for lunch allowing the
umpire crew to warm back up. The second round robin started at 1:30 and
finished around 4:00. The umpires lead a short debrief and sailors headed
to their host houses.

Sunday was slightly warmer with temperatures in the 50s and breeze still
from the east at about 15mph. The third and final round robin was completed
with two jib windows ripping mid rotation, but otherwise smooth sailing.
Wisconsin takes first with a record of 15-0, Michigan comes in second with
a record of 12-3, and Northwestern third at 8-7. Both Wisconsin and
Michigan receive berths to ICSA/APS Team Race Nationals in Austin.

Wisconsin would like to thank chief umpire Hans Graf, his crew, Gene
Rankin, Kathy Lindgren, Mike Lindgren, Dierk Polzin, Mark Johnson, and PRO
Jo Reis for all of their hard work through some uncomfortable conditions
during the weekend. Also we would like to thank Sail Sheboygan, Geneva Lake
Sailing School, and Jim Kutschenreuter for lending umpire boats for the
event.
