TweetDeck announced Monday that it is planning to release a beta test of its Android app later this week. The focus of the Android app is "true multi-stream," TweetDeck founder and chief executive Iain Dodsworth wrote in a blog post. "Multi-column is still the order of the day but now columns are blended based on the type of activity rather than the service," Dodsworth wrote. "We've spent an inordinate amount of time making the app silky smooth from the column scrolling to the custom views." Dodsworth said TweetDeck's Android app represents the future of its iPad and iPhone options. "We'll have a few bug fix releases shortly (awaiting approval in the App Store) but in the background we are working on porting Android to iPhone in as quick a time as possible," he said. There are also Android-based desktop and Web version of TweetDeck in the works, he concluded.
