Runs out of handsets for Android developers.

Three weeks after Google announced its Nexus One phone would be
available to Android developers for US$529 (AU$577), the company has
run out of the handset.

"We think it's a good development platform and a nice phone.
Apparently, you agree. Somewhat too many of you, in fact; we blew
through the (substantial) initial inventory in almost no time," wrote
Android Developer advocate, Tim Bray on the Android blog.

Nexus One maker HTC was working to catch up on the back-log amidst a
worldwide shortage of the non-backlit (AMOLED) screens used in the
device, according to Bray.

While the Nexus One has proven a "runaway success" for Google, the
phone reportedly did not sell that well as a retail product, with
Google putting an end to direct online sales in the US.
