Microsoft Exchange Active Sync adalah feature connector untuk menghubungkan wireless handheld (smartphone dan PDA) dengan Microsoft Exchange Server (yg sudah SP2) untuk koneksi push email. Device yang terhubung dengan MS Active sync akan terus menerus terhubung dengan server dan saat ada perubahan data di server misalnya email, maka otomatis email tersebut (tergantung rule relationshipnya) akan dicopy ke wireless handheld... POP3/IMAP4 adalah protocol yang digunakan oleh mail client untuk mengambil email dari mail server... POP3 pada awalnya dibuat untuk jaringan dengan speed rendah atau terputus-putus sehingga saat koneksi antara mail client dan server hanya sesaat... Sedangkan IMAP4 memiliki sistem koneksi yang berbeda yang lebih kontinu sehingga proses synchronization bisa dilakukan juga pada beberapa mail client sekaligus... Begitu yang saya tahu...
