*Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation has recently made announced a
new software update for one of its Android-based handsets, the HTC Wildfire.
*

According to the company, the new “HTC Wildfire Firmware Over The Air (FOTA)
update” comes with some new features and with a series of improvements for
the mobile phone.

However, when taking a look at the release notes *the handset
vendor*<http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Wildfire-Lands-in-India-via-Reliance-Mobile-150137.shtml>made
available for the new device, we see that the enhancements are mainly
aimed at the services Wildfire supports.

Thus, the new software update for HTC Wildfire should do the following:
*- Enhances support for Facebook status display when dialing;
- Increases support for Google Services like Google Talk, Android Market and
others;
- Improves combining contacts from Outlook and other source
*
At the same time,
*HTC*<http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Updates-Sync-for-HTC-Wildfire-149498.shtml>notes
that the new firmware solution won't erase data from users' devices,
and that a backup of personal files on Wildfire is not necessary.

Even so, users should consider performing a backup, for it won't take too
long, that's for sure, and they will be safe in case something goes wrong
with the update process.

Here's what
*HTC*<http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Wildfire-Lands-at-Telstra-in-August-147496.shtml>has
to say: “You can now download the latest software update for new
features and improved performance. It won’t delete any of your content and
we’d recommend using a Wi-Fi connection as this is a large update. If not,
standard data connection charges may apply.”

As soon as the update process is completed, one can check to see whether all
went fine through verifying the software number on the device.

“From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software
Information> Software number. The new Software number will be 1.25.405.1,”
is what HTC states.

No info on whether other enhancements were included in the new firmware were
unveiled for the time being, so it remains for
*Wildfire*<http://news.softpedia.com/news/HTC-Wildfire-Arrives-in-Singapore-146796.shtml>owners
to download and install the solution to see what has been changed.
