While Samsung’s intentions to keep the Galaxy Tab up to date haven’t really
been a secret, we are getting more confirmation out of the slate’s launch in
India on the matter. A Samsung representative said that, barring any hardware
setbacks, the tablet should see both the Gingerbread and Honeycomb versions of
Android when they eventually come to market. When that will be isn’t quite
clear, but it seems like Google may be setting up a 1-2 punch similar to the
release of Android 2.0 and 2.1 in quick succession.

Gingerbread is rumored to make its debut before christmas, and we should expect
news on Honeycomb to come early in 2011. When both launch and when they make it
to the Galaxy Tab is a different story entirely. Just take the Samsung Galaxy S
as an example, which still awaits its date with Froyo months after the new OS
was first unveiled.
