hope this will help.. I have decided to write this guide to hopefully prevent many users from doing the same thing as I did when I tried to install YONIP for the first time. I had to then reflash using odin and install cyanogenmod again from scratch because I hadn't made any backups!
*For those who do not know what YONIP OCed Kernel is ...* *OCed - Overclocked, its a kernel that makes the spica processor run at 1066mhz instead of 800mhz.* *This gives a big boost in speed to the spica, and the settings of the kernel can be customised easily using ssswitch to provide faster speeds or more battery life. * This thread is also a collection of the information I have gathered from the development thread. If anyone has anything to add then please post below. **= optional but recommended step!* *How to Install YONIP Kernel on your Spica* *Step 1 - Install Spicagenmod or Cyanogenmod on your spica*. *Step 2 - Remove any Cyanogenmod tweaks on your phone (ssswitch, pixiebob etc) by applying this zip file using recovery -* Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!<http://www.multiupload.com/4UODAXX0QX> **Step 3* - Download and install the latest Lukiqq kernel by applying the zip file using recovery. You don't have to do this but I did because Lukiqq kernel is much more compatible with YONIP.* http://forum.samdroid.net/f53/dev-lu...ayground-4130/<!4130!http://forum.samdroid.net/f53/dev-lukiqq-kernel-playground-4130/> *Step 4 - Download the latest version of YONIP kernel that suits your purpose, I have copied a quick guide below...* BFS - Uses experimental non-mainline scheduler, but responsive and fast NOT compatible with RFS CFS - Uses Linux mainline scheduler, stable and provides better battery life 16BPP 16 Bits Per Pixel graphical interface, supports screenshots 24BPP 24 Bits Per Pixel graphical interface, much brighter and clearer than 16Bpp, does not support screenshots. I installed YONIP BFS v10A 24BPP AIO because BFS tends to be faster and I rather the better quality screen. BFS has been perfectly stable for me with no issues what so ever. If a new version of YONIP has come out like v11A then feel free to use that. I would also advise installing an AIO package because it contains everything you need to get YONIP working properly! e.g.: YONIP-BFS-V.10A (AIO) *-> AIO (All In One) Package contains KERNEL, InterceptGL driver, Camera Driver, Camera App, SSSWITCH v.4 by vuko1987* *Step 5 - Copy your downloaded YONIP zip file on to your micro sd card. And boot into recovery by holding down the volume down+Accept call+Reject Call buttons for about three seconds.* *Step 6 - In recovery format Cache, data and system to EXT2 by going into advanced/filesystem conversion. Once you have done that click 'recheck filesystems' and make sure that they are all at EXT2. EXT2 must be used with the BFS version of YONIP to prevent installation errors but I also recommend using it with CFS just for peace of mind.* *Step 7 - Click wipe/davlik cache BEFORE installing YONIP. Then click 'install zip from sdcard' and navigate to your YONIP zip. Wait patiently for YONIP to install before doing anything else. Then go back into wipe/davlik cache just to be on the safe side.* *Step 8 - Click leave recovery/reboot to system and wait for the kernel to load. On the first boot the phone will hang at the full bar for about 20-30 sec because it has to recreate the davlik cache, don't worry this is perfectly normal.* *Congratulations, if Cyanogenmod or Spicagenmod boots as normal then you have installed YONIP correctly!! If your phone restart loops then you will need to reflash via odin :(* *You should notice a speed increase as soon as you start using your phone but if you want to have some control over how the kernel works and set custom options then read on!* *How to configure custom settings for YONIP kernel using ssswitch -* *Step 1 - Open up Terminal Emulator and type...* Code: su then, to access to change the YONIP kernel ssswitch settings type... (You must allow ssswitch superuser access otherwise it won't load) Code: ssscfg You should now see the ssswitch config menu and it should look similar to this (not the same because the version of ssswitch that comes with YONIP v10A is older than the most recent release) *Step 2 - Next click the number '1' option on your virtual keyboard to enable ssswitch because it is disabled by default.* *Step 3 - Now you are free to change any options you want in ssswitch, you can just use the presets or you can customise your current settings to give performance or battery savings as you wish! If you are looking for performance then change the 'awake mode CPU governor' setting to 'on demand' or 'performance'. Remember to save all your changes before exiting the ssswitch config.* *Step 4 - Next you should update to the latest version of ssswitch which is 0.72. This includes bugfixes and some new options to give further performance and customisation! All you have to do is to download the latest zip file (but make sure its the YONIP version) and install via recovery.* SSSwitch 0.72 YONIP version <http://www.mediafire.com/?l5s7olg37s0mj5d> *Thanks for reading my tutorial. If anyone has any suggestions or questions then please fire away below! I haven't finished adding everything to this tutorial yet so if there's something missing please be patient. If I haven't posted a solution to the many problems that pop up in the discussion thread yet then I will soon. Overall, I have been using YONIP kernel for a few weeks now and its hasn't given me one problem.* *I will keep updating this tutorial as new versions of YONIP and patches etc get released so please check back every now and again.** * *Thank you for all the developers great work that has made everything in this tutorial possible, you are all amazing and I hope you all keep up the great work* Read full article at http://forum.samdroid.net/f28/how-install-configure-yonip-oced-kernel-complete-guide-beginners-4635/ -- =============== Indonesian Android Community, join: http://forum.android.or.id HTC Android Phone with HTC Sense and HTCsense.com http://www.htc.com/DesireHD/ --------------------- Unlimited Data XL Mobile Broadband http://www.xl.co.id/XLInternet/BroadbandInternet -------------------- i-gadget Store - BEC Bandung E-mail: [email protected] Ph. 0812-21111191 -------------------- Toko Gila Original Surabaya Email: [email protected] Ph.
