It seems that these early models have been seen to suffer from the earpiece failing after just a few months of use. XDA forum member wizard123<http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=2949325>was one of these owners, and has posted a tutorial on how to resolve the issue by replacing the earpiece yourself. It requires dismantling your Defy so this is not for the unsteady of hand. You’ll also need a new K850i earpiece to replace the defective hardware and a pair of pliers and very small torx screwdrivers.
