The Sony Xperia Z2 launched in Singapore last week and it seems that since
then some users are reporting on a couple of issues affecting their
handsets. The first involves a small gap between the front panel of the
handset and the aluminium frame.

Typically it is most noticeable in the top right section, almost as if the
glass has not been aligned properly. The issue appears to be more
noticeable for those with white handsets, hence the large number of photos
from white Xperia Z2’s below. Owners have been worried about whether these
gaps causes any problems with the water resistance of the handset.

The other issue relates to overheating when recording 4K video, which
sometimes can lead the camera application to force close. Sony is
investigating both issues and provided a couple of statements below. Let’s
hope these issues get ironed out ahead of a broader launch in the coming
weeks.

*Sony Mobile Singapore’s official statement on Xperia Z2 overheating issue:
*

“*We are aware of some users encountering issues when shooting 4K video for
extended periods. Shooting movies in high quality 4K resolution can make
significant demands on your phone’s processor and battery life, as well as
phone memory. Therefore for the best experience, we recommend you install a
high capacity SD card (Xperia Z2 can take a card up to 128GB) and shoot 4K
video in short bursts of no longer than a few minutes at a time.*“

*Sony Mobile Singapore’s official statement on Xperia Z2 gap issue: *

“*We are aware of some users’ concern on the waterproofing capability of
the Xperia Z2 due to the presence of gap(s) and are currently looking into
this issue. In the meantime, users who wish to [sic] may bring their Xperia
Z2 to any service center to have our staff conduct a water resistant test.*”
