Google announced a pretty major update to Gmail on Android, this morning, that will surely help multi-account users be more efficient. It should add to a more responsive, polished experience in general as well, thanks to improved search and conversation views, and better Drive integration.
The update introduces an “All inboxes” option that unifies all of your email accounts into a single view, so that you don’t have to jump between accounts all of the time. You don’t have to use this “All inboxes” option, but it’s there, in your slideout navigation menu, should you choose to want to view all of your email that way. It also adds “Conversation view” to your Yahoo, Outlook, and other IMAP/POP accounts and improves search with better auto-complete. Finally, some miscellaneous additions in the update include things like more responsive animations, larger attachment previews, and single tap “save to Drive” functionality. Google didn’t say when the update is rolling out, but our guess is that it will roll out over the coming weeks or “soon,” in stages. You’ll have to sideload it, more than likely.
