The Galaxy Note range has been something of a highlight for Samsung over the
last couple of years, and it looks as if based on the early leaksregarding the
Galaxy Note 6 that this will be the case once more. Samsung has made a habit of
packing its premium phablet with some outstanding specs in recent years, and
this looks set to continue with the Galaxy Note 6.

Galaxy Note 6 will have 256GB storage

Reports have indicated that the next major device from Samsung could come with
256GB of storage. It would seem to be essential for Samsung to really deliver
something outstanding in this department with the Galaxy Note 6, as it is
possible to boost the memory of the recently released Galaxy S7 up to 200GB via
micro SD.

With Samsung having just announced its new 256GB Universal Flash Storage for
mobile devices, it seems highly possible that the Korean corporation will
utilize this in the next generation Galaxy Note 6.

This new Samsung memory device will deliver the sort of outstandingly fast
speed that mobile consumers require in the contemporary era, also ensuring that
vast data capacity is possible. Another boost for Samsung is that the
technology can assist with delivering a compact chip size in the high-end
Galaxy Note 6; something that is particularly important considering that
Samsung will be once again looking to make the device as slimline as possible.

The new technology is based on Samsung’s mostadvanced V-NAND flash memory
chips, while there is a new specifically designed high-performance controller
included as well, according to reports. The UFS memory handles up to 45,000 and
40,000 input / output operations per second for random reading and writing
respectively. If this seems rather obtuse and meaningless, it should be pointed
out that this is double the speed of the previous generation of UFS memory,
which was capable of between 14,000 and 19,000 input / output operations per
second.

This suggests that the Galaxy Note 6 could be an absolutely stonking device in
terms of speed and power, something that Samsung would clearly love to deliver
as it attempts to close the gap on the market-leading Apple. Its great rival
has built up something of a lead in the consumer electronics niche over the
last couple of years, and now that Samsung has stabilized its financial
position after some periods of declining profits, the Korean company can once
again concentrate on challenging Apple. And an outstanding Galaxy Note 6 can
play a major role in this process.

Samsung outlines UFS

The hierarchy of Samsung has already commented on this new technology and what
it can offer the Galaxy range in the future. Joo Sun Choi, Executive Vice
President of Memory Sales and Marketing at Samsung, took the time recently to
outline the benefits of the new UFS memory, and was bullish about its potential
in the consumer electronics marketplace.

“By providing high-density UFS memory that is nearly twice as fast as a SATA
SSD for PCs, we will contribute to a paradigm shift within the mobile data
storage market. We are determined to push the competitive edge in premium
storage line-ups – OEM NVMe SSDs, external SSDs, and UFS – by moving
aggressively to enhance performance and capacity in all three markets,” Choi
commented.

Of course, it is important to emphasize that Samsung has yet to earmark this
technology for any specific device, and there is definitely no guarantee that
it will be included in the Galaxy Note 6. What we do know is that the Korean
corporation is perhaps less reticent than Apple to take chances with new
technology, and this could mean that the memory tech sees the light of day
sooner rather than later.

4K resolution coming?

Aside from this innovation, there is also a significant debate regarding
whether the Galaxy Note 6 will embrace 4K resolution. As was largely expected,
the recent release of the Galaxy S7 saw Samsung freeze the resolution of the
handset at quad HD, and this really clears the way for the Galaxy Note 6 to be
the first ever 4K device from the Korean corporation.

Dual Pixel expected

Samsung will almost certainly include the same camera technology that has just
been introduced with the Galaxy S7 as well. The Dual Pixel system enables the
camera of the Galaxy S7 to capture superior photographs in darker conditions,
and this is highly likely to be replicated when the Galaxy Note 6 is released.
Other reports have suggested a system could be introduced which is described as
‘Super Optical Image Stabilization Plus’, although it is not entirely clear
what this entails at the time of writing.

6GB RAM mooted

Reports have also linked the Galaxy Note 6 with some pretty jaw-dropping RAM
memory. Some analysts believe that Samsung will arm the device with 6GB of RAM,
as the Korean corporation attempts to create an extremely attractive package
for consumers. This certainly sounds like it will be a high-spec smartphone,
but on the other hand one must be slightly concerned about the production cost
of the unit, considering the outstanding specifications being linked with the
Galaxy Note 6 already.

Qualcomm courted

Samsung is also likely to include Qualcomm Snapdragon technology in the Western
version of the Galaxy Note 6, following the policy that it has inducted with
the Galaxy S7. The reintroduction of micro SD into the Galaxy S7 also suggests
that Samsung could consider this with the Galaxy Note 6, particularly as this
range has achieved a reputation as the most spec-packed handset produced by
Samsung.

One final ability for the Galaxy Note 6 is that Samsung will introduce similar
technology to that of the Apple 3D Touch system. This was conspicuous by its
absence in the Galaxy S7, which could mean that the Korean corporation is
holding it back for the Galaxy Note 6. On the other hand, some reports have
suggested that Samsung is experiencing technical challenges with implementing
this in the Galaxy range of devices. So do not necessarily expect to see this
in the next generation Galaxy Note 6.
