Dapat email warning di bawah dari kantor. Saat ini baru di deteksi di
Eropa, tp saya yakin sebentar lagi akan muncul versi lokal lainnya..

Telecom operators across European countries have become aware of a new
mobile malware issue that spreads via SMS messages on Android devices.
Millions of subscribers across Europe are known to have received the text
so far. Thousands of those who clicked on the link in the text, have been
infected with the malware known as ‘Flubot’.

The SMS looks like a message from a courier company. While such scams
claiming to be from a package delivery firm are common, they have mostly
focused on phishing - trying to trick the user into filling in a form with
bank details and other information.

This scheme differs because if someone using an Android phone clicks on the
link, they will be taken to a page "explaining" how to install the parcel
tracking app using something called an APK (Android Package) file. The user
must modify some of the settings on their phone to facilitate the
installation of the malware.

Once activated, the Flubot malware can access highly sensitive personal
data on the affected device. Using the information from your phone
Contacts, it sends SMSs to everyone in the contacts list, addressing it
with the first name of the recipient – lending credibility to the message
and helping to convince them to click. Apart from sending text messages,
the malware could lead to further phishing attacks, intercept One Time
Passwords, steal other sensitive credentials (including Bitcoin wallets),
and send SMS to high-cost destinations - causing bill shock to the consumer
and losses to telecom companies.

If you receive an unexpected delivery message, do not click on any of the
links.

Delete the text message from your device

If you have clicked on such links and installed the malware, to protect
your data:

Reset the device to factory settings (avoid backing up before the reset to
ensure complete Flubot removal)

iPhone users are not impacted in the same way, as Apple devices cannot
install Android APKs. However, iPhone users will still receive Flubot SMS
messages and will be directed to a phishing site that will them to disclose
their Apple ID and password, along with other sensitive personal data.

FluBot Malware currently hits all telco’s and it’s users within the
Netherlands.
