periksa:
/etc/motd
/etc/issue
/etc/issue.net (prompt telnet)
/etc/rc.d/rc.local (kalo redhat)
dan mungkin /etc/profile

'man getty' untuk variable2 yg bisa dipasang di /etc/issue, misalnya
hostname, dsb.
