I used to run rails-edge (and ruby 1.8.6) for our production
e-commerce platform when I was in KL (around 2 years ago). We did BDD
since 2 weeks after core team launched user story. We used the beauty
of REST to our rails-edge platform. But ... (now here's the crappy
but. arghgh there's always but. I'd say no BUT for myself personally!
anyway) I couldn't just upgrade e-commerce platform on and on because
it would trouble our users' cache!

Since then I only recommend using git branch for ruby-1.9.1 (or even
bloody ruby trunk) and rails-edge only for development, and still use
ruby-1.8.7 and latest stable rails for production.
