That's true. Perhaps whoever is in charge of the Ubuntu package management system should be encouraged to update to Python 3.2 instead of 3.1? Installing IDLE otherwise is quite complicated -- nobody here on IDLE-dev has explained how to do it in the few days since the question was posted! - Tal Einat
