I'm not sure that this behaviour is a requirement. Applications should be able to deal with IDNs in native scripts (codepage or hopefully Unicode). Applications and/or resolvers will need to do the job of IDN (to Unicode) to nameprepped Unicode to ACE conversion, ensuring that what goes on the wire is ASCII. It sounds like there is a diversity of opinion as to where the IDN processing will happen, and how far up and down the stack the ACE handling will go. -bws
