Edmon, I'm not at all sure it's desirable to have a DNS query protocol which allows the server to specify the relationship between the native form and the ACE form - you want consistent results regardless of whether the lookup is done using native or ACE format, and a protocol like you describe is almost begging servers to play games with the relationship between the two and to produce inconsistent results. and even if you allow queries in a native format, you also have to support queries in ACE format, for the benefit of legacy apps that don't have any specific knowledge of IDNs but still need to be able to look up ACE IDNs. so I'm not sure how much this helps.
