No, that's not right. It is a registrant's choice to chose a name that
best reflects their identity online, consistent with whatever rules are
allowed. We can't allow .'s for example...

Both of these examples would cause serious problems in a unix
environment, if entered anywhere on a command line. They
could cause problems in URLs, as well. etc etc
