I'm afraid I can't help you with the first 2 questions but if you run a PCA on
the bands you can calculate covariances directly.

Hi all
1) Does anyone know how does maxset work? Is it considering the
signature covariance overlap from all bands?
2) In Idrisi user's guide (1997) page 11-18, it is written that Wang
used the Dempster-Schaffer procedure, but in his article he explains his
procedure as a membership function of fuzzy set, using the fuzzy mean
and fuzzy covariance matrix. What is the relationship with
Dempster-Schafer?
3) How to find the set of bands with the greatest covariance between
them?
