--- Start of Idrisi List message Hi folks. We do a lot of digitising from paper maps in our work. We have got into the habit of scanning the maps into a computer and using Photoshop to remove all the unnecessary information - the resulting image, when printed, is much easier to digitise. A typical example would be the digitising of countour lines. We would strip off everything from the scanned map image except the contour lines and perhaps the grid co-ordinate system. The next logical step would be to avoid the manual digitising altogether. I thought, for example, that I would be able to use Idrisi to "vectorise" lines from my touched-up raster image. However, IfW2 will only vectorise points or polygons. Does anybody know of a method that will vectorise lines from a raster image, particularly in a manner that makes it easy to assign values to each line (e.g. a height for each contour)? Perhaps even Idrisi32 has what I'm looking for? I would be much obliged for any insight.
