--- Start of Idrisi List message Over the past few days there have been a couple of messages related to printing in IDRISI32. We would appreciate feedback on this issue (although, to keep the volume down on IDRISI-L, I would suggest you send your response to Technical Support at [EMAIL PROTECTED]). Here is the issue: IDRISI32 is a 32-bit implementation in every respect. With this version, printing is achieved by first creating a Win32 "Enhanced Metafile" (EMF). This is the 32-bit replacement for the older WMF format. We have been receiving reports of a few instances where non-NT implementations of Windows (95 and 98) are not printing correctly. The common thread is that the raster components do not print properly, but that the vector elements do. From what we can tell, it relates to improper support of the newer EMF format by some older printer drivers. We have been able to confirm this by creating an EMF directly and importing it into applications such as Word and Corel Draw. In each case, the EMF is imported correctly into these applications, but they also have problems in printing the EMF, just like IDRISI32. Note also that we have not experienced any problems printing on NT systems (the EMF was originally released under NT -- not surprisingly, NT drivers seems to support this just fine). At this point we would like to ask that anyone who is having problems of this nature please contact us at Technical Support and give us the details about your Windows version and printer, and the manner in which you experience problems. Also, we suggest that you contact the manufacturer of the printer (or Microsoft directly) to get an updated printer driver. We believe that a new printer driver should solve the problem. Thank you for the help. Ron Eastman --- End of Idrisi List message IDRISI-L is an unmoderated list. As a service to list users, please post a summary of useful responses to your questions.
