Hi Chris,

The corrected AVHRR NDVI data FTP site for monthly composite averaged data
at 8 kilometer resolution (1982-1992) in Goode's projection, can be found
at:
http://daac.gsfc.nasa.gov/data/inter_disc/biosphere/avhrr_ndvi/

"Corrected", means that all AVHRR pathfinder data suffered from incorrect
SZA and bad atmospheric correction. This data was corrected in early 1998
and replaces the original 10-day and monthly data found on the above
web-site.

I also have C program code -- originally written by Matt Ding of
Eos/nasa -- to reproject this data from Goode's to a more useable equal
angular projection (binary). It is currently set up to extract the Tibet
plateau area, but you could modify it to reproject the global dataset, then
compile the code on your UNIX box. Let me know if this code is of
interest...

You'll have to contact NASA for post '92 data sets to fill the gap.
