Title: False Detection of Virus in the file IDRNMEA.EXE by McAfee Antivirus Software

Dear Idrisi-l,

There has been a false detection of a virus (trojan virus) by the McAfee Antivirus software using DAT 4.4094. This has been confirmed by McAfee. McAfee has stated that the 4.4094 DAT is falsely detecting a virus in the file IDRNMEA.EXE. This file is distributed by both Idrisi and Cartalinx. In a letter from McAfee, "this is a false detection and it has been corrected in the current DAT set [4.4095]. Solution - Please update your DAT files to suppress detection of these files as containing the trojan 'Backdoor-GZ'".

McAfee has corrected this false detection and they have updated their DAT file. You can update from McAfee's web site to use their latest DAT, 4095 or later. If you unable to update at this time, you should ignore the message. If you delete the IDRNMEA.EXE file, you can reinstall it from the Idrisi or Cartalinx CD. This file is used for connection to a GPS while using Idrisi or Cartalinx. It does not have to be installed for Idrisi to run correctly without a GPS. There is no possibility of any virus from this file if you decide to leave this file on you machine.
