Here's the situation:
Second-year Geography class - Intro to GIS.
In the past, students working on their projects have been able to
"fudge" maps and create spatial data in the following manner...using
IDRISI for WINDOWS (not 32):
1. Create an outline map in some cartography application
2. Paint the map to show different coloured areas, lines or even points.

3. Save as a .bmp file.
4. Import into Idrisi using bmpidrisi...what happened here was that a
new palette was created with the same name as the image file.
5. View the new Idrisi image and, more importantly, edit the palette to
convey other shading or colouring.
6. Edit/Assign new values to the colours displayed.
7. Voila....Idrisi spatial data when there were only "colours" before.

Nw...Idrisi32 uses RGB alue for its palette when .bmp files are
imported.
My question for you all:
Is there a way around this in Idrisi32? Or must I install a couple of
copies of Idrisi for Windows in my lab?

Thanks for any and all assistance...student projects are coming due in
two weeks and it would be nice to help them.
