I also have this problem when I try to overlay a point file. I talked to the folks at
Idrisi and they were aware of the problem and told me they would try to fix it in the
next release. In the meantime, I created a symbol file and made enormous symbols,
which when overlaid showed up. In the preview the symbols completely obliterated my
image, but they were tiny in the actual printed file. It took some experimentation to
set the symbols to the correct size. The correct size seems to depend on the pixel
dimensions of the raster layer. With patience the results were good.
