Hi Everyone,

I'm exporting an Idrisi image to ArcInfo by using the
method below (found in the Listserve Archive):

1. Convert your IDRISI image to ascii in IDRISI using
CONVERT;
2. Include an asciigrid format header at the front of
the file;
3. arc asciigrid <imagename>.img gridname.

The header should look something like this:
ncols         2400
nrows         2400
xllcorner     -1400000
yllcorner     3300000
cellsize      250
NODATA_value  -1

My question concerns the cellsize value in the header.
 The image I'm exporting was originally a .bsq file
with header (.hdr) and .bqw files included. The .bqw
file contained the georeferencing information below:

27.66173669259481 = pixel dimension in x
0.09268151197408  = row rotation
0.17181249144738 = column rotation
-28.80760444839433 = pixel dimension in y
144750.74912724213000 = x for upper-left pixel
9987437.64615854430000 = y for upper-left pixel

As you can see, the pixel resolution is not the same
in the x and y directions (27.66 vs. 28.8). What
should I say as my "cellsize" in the ascii header?
Will this be a big deal if I just use 28, and cause me
lots of problems?

If anyone has a better way of exporting to ArcInfo (or
ArcView's spatial analyst), I'd be glad to hear it.

Thanks in advance,
Carolyn Matkovich
