Purpose: First formulated in 1977, ABNF remains popular for specifying the syntax of protocols and formats. It is currently documented in: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc4234/ Although it is quite stable, there is a periodic need for discussing its use, support tools for it, possible problems with its specification, and possible enhancement of it. This mailing list serves as a venue for such discussions. For additional information, please contact the list administrators.
