Title: An Authorization Information Format (AIF) for Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments (ACE) Author: C. Bormann Status: Standards Track Stream: IETF Date: August 2022 Mailbox: c...@tzi.org Pages: 14 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-ace-aif-07.txt URL: https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc9237 DOI: 10.17487/RFC9237 Information about which entities are authorized to perform what operations on which constituents of other entities is a crucial component of producing an overall system that is secure. Conveying precise authorization information is especially critical in highly automated systems with large numbers of entities, such as the Internet of Things. This specification provides a generic information model and format for representing such authorization information, as well as two variants of a specific instantiation of that format for use with Representational State Transfer (REST) resources identified by URI path. This document is a product of the Authentication and Authorization for Constrained Environments Working Group of the IETF. This is now a Proposed Standard. STANDARDS TRACK: This document specifies an Internet Standards Track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the Official Internet Protocol Standards (https://www.rfc-editor.org/standards) for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
