The IESG has received a request from the Bit Indexed Explicit Replication WG (bier) to consider the following document: - 'BGP Extensions for BIER' <draft-ietf-bier-idr-extensions-11.txt> as Proposed Standard
The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits final comments on this action. Please send substantive comments to the [email protected] mailing lists by 2024-10-03. Exceptionally, comments may be sent to [email protected] instead. In either case, please retain the beginning of the Subject line to allow automated sorting. Abstract Bit Index Explicit Replication (BIER) is a new multicast forwarding architecture which doesn't require an explicit tree-building protocol and doesn't require intermediate routers to maintain per-tree multicast states. Some BIER-specific information and state, which are only in proportion to the network but not per-tree, do need to be advertised, calculated, and maintained. This document describes BGP extensions for advertising the BIER information and methods for calculating BIER states based on the advertisement. The file can be obtained via https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-bier-idr-extensions/ No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
