Technical Summary

The Internet Calendaring and Scheduling Core Object Specification
(iCalendar) (RFC5545) VTODO calendar component has been seen as the
poor relation of VEVENT - useful only for personal reminders and to-
   do lists.

This document updates and defines extensions to VTODO to provide
improved status tracking, scheduling and specification of tasks to
allow its use in other contexts, such as process control and project
   management.

It also defines how Calendaring Extensions to WebDAV (CalDAV) (RFC
4791) servers can be extended to support certain automated task
   management behaviours.

Document Quality

Are there existing implementations of the protocol?

This document is an extension to an existing data format and protocol.
Support for the new iCalendar elements are being added to Libical
(C/C++ library) and iCal4j (Java library).
Support for the new CalDAV property is being added to the Cyrus server.
None of the existing implementations are reported in this document but
the source code of Libical, iCal4j, and Cyrus is available online.

Personnel

The Document Shepherd for this document is Kenneth Murchison.
The Responsible Area Director is Orie Steele.
