The IESG has approved the following document: - 'Configuring UDP Sockets for ECN for Common Platforms' (draft-ietf-tsvwg-udp-ecn-07.txt) as Informational RFC
This document is the product of the Transport and Services Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Gorry Fairhurst and Mike Bishop. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-tsvwg-udp-ecn/ Technical Summary Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) applies to all transport protocols in principle. However, it had limited deployment for UDP until QUIC became widely adopted. As a result, documentation of UDP socket APIs for ECN on various platforms is sparse. This document records the results of experimenting with these APIs in order to get ECN working on UDP for Chromium on Apple, Linux, and Windows platforms. Working Group Summary This document reports implementation experience with enabling the use of ECN for UDP in Chromium across multiple operating systems and documents the behavior of relevant UDP socket APIs. It does not define a new protocol or modify existing protocol specifications, and therefore an Informational RFC is appropriate. The Datatracker state attributes correctly reflect this intent. Document Quality The WG consensus represents strong concurrence from many individuals. There were no objections to publication and there was broad agreement within the TSVWG. Personnel The Document Shepherd for this document is Mohit P. Tahiliani. The Responsible Area Director is Gorry Fairhurst. _______________________________________________ IETF-Announce mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
