The IAB acts as representative of the interests of the IETF in technical
liaison relationships with other organizations concerned with standards and
other technical and organizational issues relevant to the world-wide Internet.

The IAB recently created a new formal liaison relationship with the Optical
Internetworking Forum (OIF)[1] and is pleased to announce the appointment of
Italo Busi[2] as the liaison manager to OIF.

About OIF, via oiforum.com: "For more than 25 years, OIF has accelerated
progressive transformation in optical networking by serving as the only global
industry forum driving the electrical, optical and control interoperability
that enables a more efficient and reliable network. Its active member ecosystem
collaborates through a transparent and fast-paced process to develop, validate
and publish Implementation Agreements (IAs) and technical white papers that are
critical to accelerating market adoption of optical networking technologies."

The IETF process for managing liaison relationships is detailed in RFCs
4052[3], 4053[4], and 4691[5].
